Hello, Substack!

Let's blog like it's 2010!

Well, this has been a long time coming. I’ve missed writing, and ever since social media nudged out the blogging space as a means of internet connection, I haven't really found a suitable place for sharing, unless you count the ever-growing list of snippets in the Notes app on my phone.

I slowed down and eventually stopped blogging back in the day, when the shift began towards Pinterest-worthy posts full of aesthetics and inspo, and a subtle but real pressure to monetize EVERYTHING, and I am sorely lacking in both of those skillsets. *sigh*

Then, the online culture evolved, again, to Facebook, and then, to micro-blogging on Instagram. And, the visual platforms of TikTok and Reels. And, since my gifts are decidedly NOT those of a visual creator, I just found myself with nowhere to go.

And, now, here we are, coming full circle, with Substack, filling the void that so many of us have felt (spoken or not), and it seems that blogging is back, under the new and sparkly guise of Substack newsletters and chats. I’ve missed this space - the more personal connections that happened in the comment sections of blogs, and how you could fall into a rabbit hole by following the friends of those bloggers (Substackers?) that you follow. Yes, I’ve missed this, so very much.

I can't promise regular content right now, but I’m going to be experimenting with formats, and with content, and with some design elements (which is so NOT my gifting LOL). I welcome your feedback and suggestions, as I’m kind of a n00b around here. And I am not going to apologize if this space wanders into Tumblr-ish territory from time to time. Love what you love, right? 🩷

So, finally, thank you for trusting me with your time and attention. I’m so honored to have you accompany me along this winding path. Maybe it’s true, that we find our true selves in midlife. I’m here for it, and I hope you will be, too!
